The vertices of a triangle are A(–6, –4), B(–3, 5), and C(1, –1). Name the vertices of the image reflected across the x-axis. A'(–6, 4), B'(–3, –5), C'(1, 1) A'(–6, –4), B'(–3, 5), C'(1, –1) A'(6, –4), B'(3, 5), C'(–1, –1) A'(6, 4), B'(3, –5), C'(–1, 1)

Does this help you get an idea? |dw:1349294121793:dw|

yes

I think it is answer C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer C looks like a rule that says, take your starting x value and transform it to become negative of that x, or -x. So C says, an x value of 1 becomes -1. That describes reflecting around the Y axis instead... (sketch it out to see)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The rule that says reflect across the x axis could be rephrased as, take your point, and look at its y-value... the reflected point will be the same distance above or below the x axis, but on the opposite side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So a y value of 5 would reflect across the horizontal x axis and become y = -5.
