What is the difference between rational functions and inverse variation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

rational function is the ratio of two POLYNOMIALS

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can an inverse variation be a ratio of polynomials?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

inverse function means you are given some function, and find the function that exhanges inputs and outputs they are entirely different concepts

i do not understand the question, sorry
