cot x sec^4x - cot x + 2 tan x + tan^3 x

OpenStudy (ajprincess):

Do you want to factorize this?

OpenStudy (ajprincess):

@Gina803

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think so. I'm confused on how to get this answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know we're suppose to prove the identity and set it up by using sin^2t + cos^2=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and actually in the place of t we are using theta

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what identity are you proving?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cot x sec^4 x =cot x +2 tan x + tan3 x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that should be tan^3x on the end

OpenStudy (anonymous):

divide through by cotx left side is then sec^2 x*sec^2 x =(tan^2 x +1)(tan^2 x +1) right side is 1 +2tan^2 x +tan^4 x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

factor the right side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I'm going to try this now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm still a little loss but I'm trying to figure this out out. ugh
