How does CO change haemoglobin?

Carbon monoxide (CO) binds with Hemoglobin to form "Carboxyhemoglobin" (COHb). ("Haemoglobin" is the same as "hemoglobin." Sorry about the possible confusion. We just spell it a little differently in America.) When this happens, it greatly reduces the amount of oxygen that our hemoglobin can carry.
