5. Which one of the following can be used to determine the mass of the earth A) Kepler‟s law B) Newton‟s law of motion C) Coulomb‟s law D) Newton‟s law of gravitation
@hartnn
Kepler's law
I assume it's Kepler's law.
Ok What Does Keplers Law State ??
Please Provide Its Mathematical Statement Too
there are 3 which one u want lol. ill give u all three. Kepler's laws are: 1. The orbit of every planet is an ellipse with the Sun at one of the two foci. 2. A line joining a planet and the Sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time. 3. The square of the orbital period of a planet is directly proportional to the cube of the semi-major axis of its orbit.
So how can this law determine Mass of the earth ?
@AbhimanyuPudi prove it.
@AbhimanyuPudi Please Help Me with this problem
I think in this case we would actually use newtons law \[F = G \frac{ m1m2 }{ r^{2} }\]
That's newton's law of universal gravitation now that theory of gravity (ie W=mg)
not*
you would need a mass of one object, the force exerted by the earth on said object and the distance between said object and earth. @Dido525 this is the closest i can come to finding the mass of a stelar body.
\[T ^{2}=4\pi ^{2}r ^{3}/GM\]
^ Kepler's law
you know the time period of earth, radius of earth and the value of G..so find out M
That's it @AbhimanyuPudi .
I just couldn't remember it. I did that 2 years ago.
Ok Thanks Alot Dude
