Can someone please explain why it is true that you can go from the left hand side of the equals size to the right hand side (in the red box in the picture above)

Because \((-1)^k\) is a constant for each term in the sum, so it can be taken outside the integral. Does that make sense?

ok....but where is the constant from the indefinite integral?

I'm not sure, when integrating sums we just don't generally include a constant of integration.
