In Of Mice and Men who is responsible for Lennie's death? Why? (You can't say George because he was the one who shot him)

I would say Curly. If he had paid more attention to his wife, she wouldn't have been chatting-up Lennie in the first place.
Also, anyone who gave-chase is partly responsible. George did what he did because he wanted Lennie to die happy. If the mob had caught up with him, he would have died scared and confused.

I can also see how it can be Curly's wife. She was very forward, and pushy. She knew Curly didn't like her talking to other men, but she talked to Lennie to spite him. So, in a way, she put herself in a situation that was potentially dangerous. But, personally, I don't think she knew just how dangerous Lennie was. She only wanted someone to notice her, and Lennie did.

One last thought: In a way, Candy put the thought into George's head when he said he ought to have shot his dog himself, instead of letting a stranger shoot him. So, I can imagine that George was thinking along those lines when he killed Lennie. Lennie was kind of like his dog. He was loyal and loving, and would have done anything for George. So, George wouldn't have wanted a stranger to shoot him.
