Find the derivative of the following: f(x)= (8x +3)(2x^2 -x -1) Is it easier to begin with the product rule or the power rule? How is it best to determine which rule to use?

I would multiply through then use power rule to find your answer. So (8x + 3)(2x^2 -x -1) = 16x^3 - 8x^2 - 8x + 6x^2 - 3x -3. Simplify then use power rule

So the final answer would be 48x^2-4x-11?

yes
