Find the slope of the line: 4x+y=8

OpenStudy (juanperez):

its -4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How did you get that answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you isolate y in this equation, what part of it would be the slope?

OpenStudy (juanperez):

look the slope is the change in y per unitary change in x

OpenStudy (juanperez):

SO you can solve y with x=1 and y with x=1, then find how did y increse or decresed when you increase x by 1

OpenStudy (juanperez):

I meant with x=1 and with x=0

Okay go it, thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay first thing you do is put it in y-intercept form which is y=mx+b SO here it would be.... y=-4x+8 Next, to find slope you just look at the number in front of x.. so in y=mb+b the m is your slope. So in your problem, y=-4x+8 the slope is equal to -4 :)
