Solve the system by graphing. ( I will attach pictures ) *

make those two equations in your problem into lines that look like y = mx + b that makes them easier to graph...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand how to ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, would it look like y=-3x+-10 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

example: -3x - y = -10 Multiply everything by (-1) 3x + y = 10 Then subtract 3x from both sides: y = -3x + 10 Now you can graph that... it's a line with slope -3 that intersects the y axis at 10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

close... you just had the signs mixed up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I still don't understand which graph it would be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you graph y = -3x + 10?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't know how to graph it. That's what I don't understand.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what class is this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

algebra 2 . I take classes online so I don't have a teacher in front of me :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's fine... but in algebra 1, you should have done lines in slope-intercept form, like y = mx + b the slope is m, which is the amount it goes up or down, divided by the amount it goes left or right. A slope of -3 means it goes down 3 for every 1 it goes to the right. And the y-intercept is "b", meaning that is where the line crosses the y axis.
