18-6a=4a-4(a+3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First you have to distribute. So re-write: 18-6a= 4a-(4xa)+(4x3) 18-6a=4a-4a+12= 18-6a=12 (Where did the two 4a's go? Remember 4a-4a=0, so just drop down 12) (Not done yet...)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

diistribute the -4:\[18-6a=4a-4a-12\]combine like terms:\[18-6a=-12\]subtract 18 from both sides:\[-6a=-30\]divid both sides by -6:\[a=5\] \[hope~this~helps~~ :)\]

Yeah , nevermind. LMFAO.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks aton when i see what i did wrong now all because i was adding 18 and not subtracting it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats a really common silly mistake, happens to the best of us :)

Just do the opposite of what you see. If it's a negative, add. If it's a positive , subtract (;
