can any one help me solve for a variable useing angle postulets

OpenStudy (anonymous):

post ur question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a complicated thing to type i have to draw it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, then how can anybody answer it without seeing it. take a snap and post it if u can.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i cant take a pic if you think you can solve it i can give you and online text book adress username and password

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try drawing it then. And if you can, also describe what you are seeing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1349915639874:dw| i have to solve for 4 variables i solved 3 but cant solve Y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

choose one of the big triangles and use 'sum of angles in a triangle = 180'

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i solve for one of the inner angles and use the vertical angle postulet and angle addition postulet to solve for it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that a parallelogram? You can use alternate interior angles if so.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, nevermind, you'll still have to use the triangles first. I just noticed that they are both Y.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i used alternate interior angles to solve for X, W, and V but when i tried it with Y i couldnt get a good answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y= 37 did i get the right answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. you are correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i also need heelp solving for the variables in this |dw:1349916300021:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x+y = 180 and x=3y so. solve for x and y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do we know that x=3y? Are the lines parallel?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how would i solve for x and y and yes they are parallelline

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can solve the system using substitution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what would i substitue in there place

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If x+y=180 and x=3y, then 3y+y=180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes when a line intersects two parallel lines it subtends equal internal and external angles with both the lines. so x=3y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok ill try it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so y=45

OpenStudy (anonymous):

AND X=135 did i do it right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

135 does equal 3 times 45, and 45 plus 135 does equal 180, so it seems to check out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you soo much ill post if i need more help
