OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

is the universe symmetric

OpenStudy (ujjwal):

The universe is infinite.. So, i can't really say something which is infinite is symmetric or not! The 'observable universe' will always be spherical and you will always at its center no matter where you are.. So, the 'observable universe' seems to be symmetrical.. But nothing much can be said about THE UNIVERSE!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's built on symmetry...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Algebraic - It´s proven that the "small universe" is built on symmetry. Meaning the bosons, fermions... molecular level. But as unklerhaukus# (am sorry, dont know how to put there a reference ) says, universe is a ballon you are filling with air. You aare always in the centre of it and there is the same distance to every point "at the edge of the universe" - spheric, a ball. But there are some works that try to find to shape it´s "blowing up into". It is said (theory in progress) it most likely a dodekahedron. (simple reference http://physicsworld.com/cws/article/news/2003/oct/08/is-the-universe-a-dodecahedron) It is all comming up from the study of the cosmic microwave background radiation. We are still looking for more precise measurements. Look it up. Tags: Dodekahedron, cosmic microwave background radiaton, inflation models.
