plz help me solve this problem and dont just post the answer

OpenStudy (bakonloverk):

\[-1-6*-3\frac{ 5 }{ 6 }\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is an order of operations question. "PEMDAS" is the acronym for "Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, and Addition and Subtraction" that tells you the order to do the math.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This looks to me the following... and I added the parenthesis to help show what to calculate first... \[-1 - 6 * (-3\frac{ 5 }{ 6 }) = -1 - [6 * (-3\frac{ 5 }{ 6 }) ]\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first, you can multiply the 6 times the (-3 5/6) term to get -18 30/6 and the 30/6 simplifies to 5, so it's really -(18+5) = -23 you will then be left with -23 at the end of the expression -1 - [ -23 ] this simplifies to -1 + 23 = 22

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does that explanation help?

OpenStudy (bakonloverk):

yes it does thank you
