10,10,10,10,8,8,8,8,8,12,12,11,Y.What is the median of this twelve numbers. Can any body help me for solving this please???
Arrange the numbers in order (from least to greatest) and the two numbers in the middle are the ones you should add together (they'll have 5 numbers to each side of them). Once you've added them, divide them by two, and you'll have the mean.
Then what about ''Y''
i think the mean would still be the same one that you calculated, excluding the "Y".
sorry, I meant median, not mean.
I am sorry.I think its tricky.its from gre model question!!
then where should we put '' y'' in middle or side or....I don't know
I think either way your median would still be the same, but I'm not sure. Sorry.
Ok thanks for your time
Assume Y is 8, less than 8 or greater than 8 and calculate median for each case.
@ estudier Can you explain???
I thought I just did?
If Y is 8, what is the median?
It is 10
OK, I forgot to arrange them in order to start with Where I said 8, use 10 instead.
So, if Y is 10, what is the median?
Again 10
If Y is 11, what is the median?
Oh ok again 10 ..thank you so much
