Nope... When you have the same base term, like you have with "x" here, then the exponents add.

Example: ( 2^3 ) (2^2) = 8 * 4 = 32 = 2^5

when you have something like (x^3)^2, that's when the exponents multiply to give x^6 (2^3)^2 = 8^2 = 64 = 2^6
