Can someone PLZ help with this Question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry but probability and I aren't good friends.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok. For part a0 you need to multiply the probabilities of each game together. This is because they are dependent on eachother. Meaning she must win one game then the next. They must happen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part b) is the same concept. You square that games probability. The chance of winning both games in conditional you win it first then again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so for a i do 5.2 x 705600?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now say there is a part c) and it asks what is the probabilty that they win a million fron either game if they purchased a ticket from each. For this you would add their probabilities because they are not dependent on eachother.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did any of that make sense?? 1/(5.2E6 * 705600)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no not really. It want's the answer in Scientific notation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shortcut: if is says "and" you multiply probabilities. "or" you add

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how to do scientific notation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol I did it in High school but i don't remember.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1,200,000 is 1.2 x 10^6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

http://www.purplemath.com/modules/exponent3.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the answer for a would be 3.6 x 10^6?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didn't do the problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol well it help so i know if i got it right.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got a diferent answer for part a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well how did u get ur answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

part a) 1/(5.2E6 * 705600)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Part b) 1/(705600^2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok idk how i'm supposed to begin to solve 1/(5.2E6 * 705600). as for part b i got 2.0 x 10^-12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1(5200000*705600)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/**

OpenStudy (anonymous):

part b is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So is a 3.6 x 10^12?
