Choose the equation of the line passing through the point (-1, -2) and perpendicular to y =1/4 x + 2. y = 4x - 6 y = -4x - 6 y = -4x + 2 y = 4x

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

What do you now about the relationship between two parallel or perpendicular lines? Also each equation is given in slope-intercept form so do you know what that is?

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

Equation of any diagonal (oblique) line is y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

@carachronic, are you there? Do you understand what I've said thus far. Do you know what to do now?

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

Two lines are parallel if they have the same slope. Two lines are perpendicular if their slopes are negative reciprocals of each other or if the the product of their slopes is -1.

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

@CheetahBooks1 please do not just give out solutions. I am trying to teach her. You may do the same but don't give out answers!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk man lol

OpenStudy (calculusfunctions):

Then don't be afraid to ask questions. Tell me what you don't understand about what I've said so far so I can help you further.
