If A = {negative even integers} and B = {negative odd integers}, what is A union B? A) {0} B) {negative integers} C) {integers} D) { }

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know wad is union meant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm guessing he's meaning AUB, i'm thinking AuB is a union of all real integers from -infinite to 0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Alan_Andrade , yea u get the Union's meaning, Union doenst meant intersection set, but it included all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I thought it meant intersection. @zheng

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@babybri_ , do you know wad is the symbol of intersection?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is it the upside-down U? @zheng

OpenStudy (anonymous):

intersect = n union = U

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes it is the upside down U, which kind of like goes for n, and, it only carries those elements that are common to both A and B; whereas the union includes all those in both A and B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oooh okay, I sorta get it now. @Alan_Andrade

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, I just posted the options it gives me. Which one is it? This question is kind of confusing.. @Alan_Andrade @zheng

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which option u think is most likely?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C..? @zheng

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As we're encasing all (both even AND (union) odd) negative numbers, it's quite simple. Go for it!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C would imply you are taking into account ALL integers, from -infinite to +infinite, so no.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@babybri_ , for example , u have A = { -2, -4, -6, -8, -10 } and you have B = { -1, -3, -5, -7, -9} , the question for A U B, so what ans you should give?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Seems there's a little confusion. Since you're taking only, and exclusively negative numbers, the answer would be B, negative integers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But how? Im still a little confused.. @Alan_Andrade

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WAIT! No never mind, I understand it now! Thank you soo much! @Alan_Andrade and @zheng

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's great u can understand =D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good to know you got it. Good luck!
