Mostly, it is controversial about Nature vs Nurture. Hard to define. It depends upon the child's exposure to the environment.

Albert Bandura came up with the Social Learning Theory.

The theory basically says that people (including children) can learn how to behave in situations, by observing their environment, and the people around them.

Our parents are usually the first people we see, when we come into this life.
That means that our parents are our primary object of behavioral observation, when we're young.
We learn how to behave, in different situations, from our parents. We watch what they do, and very often, we imitate it.

Now....personality is dependent on our environment, such as the environment that our parents create for us.

But I'm not sure that Bandura's Social Learning Theory could be used to say that our personalities would DEFINITELY develop like those of our parents.

Personality relies on more than just the environment.
It's also part hereditary,
and how we individually interpret the experiences that we go through.

I don't think so. If it does, then I honestly wouldn't know. This theory was brought forth using children, and not animals, you know?

i think it would happen in animals also, if you observe animals you see that the smaller animals (ie children) practical do the same as there parents

True, "Observational learning" is the factor. Even, i could suggest an example that happened in my real life,

>One day, i went to my friend's house and he grew's a dog & its puppy and at every night puppy barks along with its mother of other street dogs. The puppy developed this behavior from its mother by "Observational learning." The same is applicable for monkeys, Gorilla's etc.

That's the power of Observational learning. And it is about how the information is got by an animal.
