find the intercepts and graph the line x-4y=-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you have to put the equation in slope intercept form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the intercepts are where the line crosses the axes... so you can just plug in zero for x and solve for y for the y-intercept and zero for y and solve for x for the x-intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-4y=-x-4 then divide by four on each side y=1/4x+1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the +1 in slope intercept form is the y-intercept

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when the line crosses the y-axis, x=0 when the line crosses the x-axis, y=0 for the graph, do what imnotowel said...and you can get the slope (and y-intercept, although you can get the y-intercept by setting x=0)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then as BME said you replace y for 0 and solve to find x (the x-intercept)
