HELP!!! Please help me!!! the function y=-.03(x-14)^2+6 models the jump of a red kangaroo where x is the horizontal distance in feet and y is the corresponding height in feet. What is the kangaroos maximum height? How long is the kangaroo's jump
do you know anything about getting maximums?
no is that when you get the highest number on a parabola?
uuh do you know how to do this? um is the maximum height the vertex?
Yes that would be the maximum. Sorry I was busy for a second
oh thats ok im just glad im not by myself on this problem:/ and to get the vertex we just graph right?
so you can find the x value and then plug it back into the equation to get the y value which is what you are looking for
i guess but to get the x do what do we do? -b/2a?
You can graph it if you want but that decimal may be a problem
thats true
yup -b/2a
ok and then simplify from then on right?
and it would probably help to factor in the -.3 and then foil the problem so finding the distance can be easier
yes
oooh ok i think i get how to do it now! mind blown!!! thank you!!!!!XD
haha yay! your welcome...and I meant -.03 not -.3 but you get what im saying :)
yup yup thank you!!!
your welcome
