How do you find the multiplicity of an equation?

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

you look at the exponent for example: (x-2)^2 = 0 the root here is x = 2 with multiplicity 2 is that what you're asking?

Parth (parthkohli):

\[\rm f(x) = (x - 2382819294)^{3282484592}\]Here, the root is \(\rm x = 2382819294\) and the multiplicity is 3282484592.

So the multiplicity is just whatever the number is raised to?
