How do you find the upper and lower bounds of a polynomial?
For example, f(x) = 3x3 – 10x2 + 22x – 4.
Least Upper Bound and Greatest Lower Bound ?
Yeah.
as much as that's true, the question says to : determine between which consecutive integers the real zeros of each function are located.
using the upper bound theorem, and f(x)/(x-c), but i don't know what c is.
Are You Allowed To Use A Calculator ?
yeah.
You should have just mentioned what the original question was to begin with
. Plug in consecutive integers for x. The answer will be the two integers in which one gives you a positive value and one gives you a negative value. Start by trying the integers -3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3 for x.
I can't understand why people think it is a good idea to ask half of the question rather then simply post the entire question. That's like giving partial info.
LoL
sorry @hero. I found the terminology confusing and thought people would understand upper bound meant the theorem.
If You Have A Calculator You Can Find The Zero :)
You mean you assumed that everyone else besides you were aware that such a theorem exists?
yep. oops. but thanks @hba. i think i got it.
