can u graph y=2x^2-4x+1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
all i really need to figure out is what to first do i don't know how to get the x,y yet?
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
well you can plot points (x,y).
an easy one is when x = 0, y = 2(0) - 4(0) + 1 = 1
so (0,1) is a point
the graph will look something like a U
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
construct a table of x and y values for your plots
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OK so is it (x+0)(x+1)

to start out
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
no get some graph paper and plot points
OpenStudy (anonymous):
ok
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
eg
x y
-- --
1 -1 (2(1)^2 - 4(1) + 1}
-1 7 (2(-1)^2 - 4(-1) + 1)
plot another few points
OpenStudy (anonymous):
i got it

you can also find the zeros of the function
by solving 2x^2 - 4x + 1 = 0
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
i don't know what algebra level you are at
can you do the above operation?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
OK thanks
OpenStudy (cwrw238):
