I'm writing a literary analysis in MLA format. One question about punctuation and quotation...My sentence is: She “cross[es] herself, sadly,” takes a moment to bend over their dead bodies in remembrance before she continues with her business as it was prior to their death (Hawthorne 1155). My question is, do I need a comma after the word "she" before the quotation? Thanks so much!
