can someone help me figure out factoring by grouping like 2ax-7a-2bx+7b???

hartnn (hartnn):

@ally01203 Hi, \(\huge \color{red}{\text{Welcome to Open Study}}\ddot\smile\) for such type of problems, you find what is common between first two terms, what can u take out common from 2ax-7a ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a??

hartnn (hartnn):

correct :) so what do u get after taking out that common ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a (2x-7)

hartnn (hartnn):

that is correct,do the same thing for -2bx+7b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b (-2x+7)

hartnn (hartnn):

can u take -b common instead of b ? try it \(\huge -b(...)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-b(2x+7)??

hartnn (hartnn):

when u take out -b from 7b, u get -7 so u have \(-b(2x-7)\)\ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ooohHH okay cool

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then what? :o

hartnn (hartnn):

so u have \(\huge a(2x-7)-b(2x-7)\) take (2x-7) common from this, what u get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a-b(2x-7)? D:

hartnn (hartnn):

CORRECT ! just be careful with brackets, it will be \(\huge (a-b)(2x-7)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

woo!! is that it?

hartnn (hartnn):

yes, thats it, u have 2 factors as a-b and 2x-7.. wasn't it easy ? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep thank u much love to u :D

hartnn (hartnn):

welcome ^_^
