Parth (parthkohli):

When a road curves, (let's say to the right) why does it slope towards the right direction?

Parth (parthkohli):

... I'm not a Physics master.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there has to be a centripetal force for things to travel curved paths. otherwise they travel in a straight line... If you bank a curved road, then you are using the Normal force to produce some or all of the required centripetal force...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you didn't bank the roadway, you'd be relying entirely on the friction between the tires and the road to provide a centripetal force... and it's not a very predictable force. it changes with road conditions, tire conditions, etc.

Parth (parthkohli):

Oh yes, gotcha.

Parth (parthkohli):

Thank you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sure:)
