pLeAsE HeLp! A survey showed that seventy customers bought white bread, sixty-three bought wheat bread, and thirty-five bought rye bread. Of those who bought exactly two types of bread, twelve bought wheat and white, five bought white and rye, and seven bought wheat and rye, Two customers bought all three. How many customers bought only wheat bread?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

White = 70 Wheat = 63 Rye = 35 Wheat and white = 12 Rye and white = 5 Rye and when = 7 Rye, white, wheat = 2 We need a Venn diagram...

OpenStudy (lilai3):

can you please help me with an example???? thanksssss

OpenStudy (tamtoan):

why not try this ? only wheat = total of wheat subtract all those with wheats and others

OpenStudy (lilai3):

like...??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because it's hard to subtract the "others"... there are probably overlaps that make it not straightforward. It might work, but it's not obvious to me.

OpenStudy (tamtoan):

hi jake :) well wheats and others ...they are listed in the problems, so just add them all up..they are not pure wheat...so pure wheat has to be...total subtract all that "not pure" wheats, isn't it? :)
