._.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

this is from a practice test i did the other day...i chose d and it's wrong :/ i'd like to know what the right answer is, and how you got that answer. thanks :)

OpenStudy (aripotta):

hey jake :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi :) Pipe 1: radius1 = 5 cm Pipe 2: circumference2 = 20pi = 2pi*radius2.... so radius2 = 20pi / 2pi = 10 cm Now that you have the radius for each, you can compare the volumes more easily.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

right, i did that and got a volume 4 times bigger...?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the area of the circle for pipe 1 will be pi*radius^2 = 25pi the area for the circle for pipe 2 will be pi*radius^2 = 100pi For equal length pipe, the volume should be 4 times larger. Wonder why (how) that could be wrong?

OpenStudy (aripotta):

not the best writing, but here:

OpenStudy (aripotta):

yea that's what i was thinking!

OpenStudy (aripotta):

maybe i should call my teacher or something...but it was only a practice test, so it didn't really matter...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I can't see an error in the logic or the math... I wonder if the answer for the test was incorrect.

OpenStudy (aripotta):

ok...i'll have to call her about that...do you wanna help me with another question i got wrong? i got 50/60 on the practice test :/

OpenStudy (aripotta):

i'll post it in a new thread

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok
