is 12 > 10 -- a true statement?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Im not sure, ik i sound dumb...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes 12 is greater than 10 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about the greater than or equal to sign? That whats messing me up..... 12 cat be equal to 10..

zepdrix (zepdrix):

OH i see why you're confused :) You need to meet one of the two conditions for it to be true. 12 needs to either be the same as 10, or larger than 10, for the statement to be true. It doesn't have to be true on both accounts, just one or the other! ^^

Ohhhh.... thanks! So it doesn't have to be equal, just needs to be one or the other or both..

zepdrix (zepdrix):

Actually another thing to think about, it can never be both! :) \[11 \ge 10\] Hmm 11 is greater than 10, but not equal to 10. So the statement is true. \[10 \ge 10\] Hmm 10 is equal to 10, but not greater than 10. Just some silly examples ^^ It would be impossible to meet both conditions \:D/
