Hi, I want to learn Phython mostly for bioinformatic analysis. But have no programming skills. Will this be good for me?

U might also want to go to youtube look up thenewboston and he has good tutorials for python and other languages
I don't know anything about biometrics, however Python is an easy language to learn, you can make an application really fast and its community is really big. There are a lot of resources: https://class.coursera.org/interactivepython-2012-001/class/index http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-189-a-gentle-introduction-to-programming-using-python-january-iap-2011/ http://www.greenteapress.com/thinkpython/thinkCSpy/html/index.html Give it a try!

@apratim.chakrabarti: This course will give you the basic Python tools. There is a site out there called Rolsalind ( http://rosalind.info/problems/as-table/) that provides bioinformatics problems that can be done using Python, which is the language they recommend.
I would say Yes: there are beginner programming exercises here to guide you through the beginnings of Programming, for a first time programmer, in small easy-to-handle steps.
There is a PDF out there for a course called Python for Informatics, hope this link works. https://source.sakaiproject.org/contrib//csev/trunk/pyinf/tex/book.pdf
