I don't know anything about biometrics, however Python is an easy language to learn, you can make an application really fast and its community is really big.

@apratim.chakrabarti: This course will give you the basic Python tools. There is a site out there called Rolsalind ( http://rosalind.info/problems/as-table/) that provides bioinformatics problems that can be done using Python, which is the language they recommend.
