Scientists want to place a 2800.0 kg satellite in orbit around Mars. They plan to have the satellite orbit a distance equal to 1.5 times the radius of Mars above the surface of the planet. Here is some information that will help solve this problem: mass of mars = 6.4191 x 10^23 kg radius of mars = 3.397 x 10^6 m G = 6.67428 x 10^-11 N-m^2/kg^2 What should the radius of the orbit be (measured from the center of Mars), if we want the satellite to take 8 times longer to complete one full revolution of its orbit?
When I put the wrong answer, it said for feedback: "You have increased the distance of the orbit by a factor of 8. But remember the satellite goes slower the further it orbits, so this distance is too large."
@No-data One more question pleeease? :-)
I solved this problem, but I have a very similar problem for involving a satellite. I will post it.
