arctan(tan(53pi/10)). answer must be in exact form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, you could rewrite this as tanx = tan(53pi/10)

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

The ONLY thing you need to worry about on this one is the Range of the arctan(x).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess the range would be -pi/2 to pi/2?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

That's it. The idea of arctan(x) is to be an inverse of tan(x), thus, it would be wonderfully convenient if arctan(tan(x)) = x. This is ALMOST the case, excepting that that the final result is an equivalent angle in the Range you have specified.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have the answer guys. arctan(tan(53pi/10))= 53pi/10 53pi/10 - 2pi -2pi - pi/2 = 3pi/10 which falls in the range of -pi/2 to pi/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup, good job!

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Well, except for that first line where you actually wrote a value that is outside the Range fo the arctan(x) function. It might be okay to think it, knowing hta tyou'll work on it, but writing it is a little shocking. Good work.
