2y^2+y=6 how to solve? whats the easiest way?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2y^2+y-6=0 now apply quadretic formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would subtract 6 from the right side, and then factor.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You would get (y+2)(2y-3)=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's easier than using the quadratic formula. Even though the quadratic formula would still work. You will get y=2, 3/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in some cases factors cannot be generated

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In this case, it would be easier to factor. But ya, factors can't always be generated for every equation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in this case u r right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

some time learner got confused when there are no factors

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks guys! i understand how to do it now! :)
