How would you put this expression in factored form? 4x2 + 11x + 6

OpenStudy (raden):

the factor of 4x^2 is 4x * x and the factor of 6 is 3 * 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So basically factor form is (4x*x)(3*2) in parenthesis like that right?

OpenStudy (raden):

that is just a hint :) nopes.. it should be : (4x+3)(x+2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh lol *excuse my having to ask* can you explain why/how that works?

OpenStudy (raden):

ok, the first we find the factors of 4x^2 so, u can represent to (4x ......)(x.......) or (2x .....)(2x.......) and for this case, the ideal pear is (4x ......)(x.......)

OpenStudy (raden):

next, we find the factor of 6. the possible it can be 1 * 6 or reverse and 2 * 3 or reverse, but for this case the ideal pairs of it is 3 * 2

OpenStudy (raden):

but, u have to recheck again for the middle term ("11x"), it comes from : |dw:1351617094640:dw|
