OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do I find the genotype of parents? The off spring produce 65 white squash and 19 yellow.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

Do you know anything else? like is white dominant?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, that is what I have to find out. I just need to find out the ratio of what it could be. For example the phenotype could be hypothetically 25% Yellow:75% white

OpenStudy (aaronq):

The off spring produce 65 white squash and 19 yellow. so is this the 2nd generation? or are the offspring themselves 65 white and 19 yellow?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, the offspring themselves are 65 white and 19 yellow, white being the dominant trait. This is a second generation.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

um so you'd assume yellow would be recessive let's call it yy and Yy and YY account for the rest, R is dominant 65/3 = 21.6 YY 2(65/3)= 43.3 Yy 19 rr almost 1:2:1 ratio then i would say the parents both had Yy. the number are off, but id suggest you try this by doing several punnett squares

OpenStudy (aaronq):

"and Yy and YY account for the rest, R is dominant.." i meant Y is dominant.
