OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

Factor -x^3+3x-2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-(x-1)(x+2)(x-1) now simplify this.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-(x-1)^2(x+2)

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

How do you get that so easily?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you find what values you have to multiply to get 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so like 1 times 2 is 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there really isn't any other solution because that would be the only values that make 2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also these two values, 1 and 2 have to add up to the middle number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which is 3

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

ok... I'm still not sure how you find the three factors so easily. It looks like you're doing a trick similar when you have like x^2+bx+c.. finding two numbers that multiply to give c and adding them gives b... but I'm not sur ehow it's done with the ^3 at the front

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its the same, except it has 3 zeros

OpenStudy (anonymous):

two of them will be identical

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

o.o hm interesting I never saw this. Thanks
