Helloo, I really need help with Statistics.. How can I find the error E. I will attached the work. Please help! Thanks,
@jim_thompson5910 Hi, my life saver.. I have a question. How can I find the t a/2 corresponding to 95% confidence level, where the number of degrees of freedom is given by n-1=40 and a=100%-95%=0.05.? How can plug them in to get the error? Please help!! :))
so for part a) the answer of 1.7 is incorrect ?
No it is good, but I can I find the number.? as youcan see the computer was the one that got it right...
well if you're supposed to be using the t-distribution, then I think I see how to get 1.7 but, do you have any tables you want to use? or did you want to use a calculator?
oh and btw, it's a 99% confidence interval NOT a 95% confidence interval
and I'm not sure how you got n-1 = 41-1 = 40 degrees of freedom when n = 61 in this problem
OOhh Because it was another question
Sorry
I would like to see if I can use the calculator, but the profesor said there is no table.
alright, what kind of calculator do you have
TI-30XIIS
hmm idk if that calculator can do statistics (the statistics we want -- like calculate cdfs or inverse cdfs)
is there a statistics button or menu on it?
Yes
is there a distribution sub menu in there?
Sorry, not sure what is happening with this website..
How can I find it?
I'm not too familiar with TI-30XIIS, so I'm not sure
what do you see in the statistics menu?
1-var 2-var
ok try 1 var
what do you see in there
nothing..
it's literally empty?
the screen is clean.
strange
why would they have that option if it does nothing?
Yes, at the bottom on the right side it says Stat Deg
are you allowed to use another calculator?
Nooo,...I wish! the made me return the other one TI-84
ah, that's a shame because I know for sure that a TI-84 has the proper stats functions to answer this question
Ohh wao...
because i use it all the time (never really used a TI-30 though)
Should I plug it in even though the screen is empty??
yeah try anything you can to get it to work
If was your calculator how you plug them in.??
I would use the invnorm function to find the critical value, but that function isn't on the TI-30 it seems
Oohh, that is not fair... So how do I find the error... she said to find the t... But I try and try and don't get it..
are you sure you're not allowed to use tables?
because if your calculator can't handle this, then you have no choice but to use the table
Soo, you think there is should be a table..?? because there is nothing in the syllabus and I also asked her and she didn't confirm me that there is one>
well if you're supposed to use the t-distribution, then you would use the inverse t table does your book have that at all?
This is what she said to me. "In problem 12 of chpt 7 HW, the population standard deviation sigma is not given. Consequently, the critical value you look for is t_alpha/2 for which you will need to use a Student t-distribution with degrees of freedom = n - 1 and the area in one or two tails obtained directly from the significance level (which is alpha.)"
oh do you remember those tables you sent me last time?
Yes!
can you send them to me again
I found something. let me find the way to send it to you and you can confirm that to me.
ok
No way of how to send it.. I found it all the way in the back of the book. and I thinks is the table.
ok, then tell which value you get then
Is not fair, my professor didn't tell us that we have tables to use. You know when those question come out. she should let us know..
This is also an online class...... Yes!! I found it.. it is the t Distrubution table...
yeah it's definitely unfair, she should have told you
good
Thanks again!! At least I talked to you.. hope everything is ok with you!!!
yeah everything is fine, let me know what you get
This is another one!!! you see how easy was?? jejeje!!
you got it, nice work (I just realized/remembered it checked your answer for you lol)
Jiji!!! thanks again for your help...Talk to you soon.. lol!!
np, cya later
