If b > 1 for the general equation y = b^x, is the graph increasing or decreasing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Increasing. A graph of:\[1^{x}\] is just a straight line, but since it says b > 1 it is anything above 1, for example, \[2^{x}\] is an increasing curve. To look yourself go here; http://my.hrw.com/math06_07/nsmedia/tools/Graph_Calculator/graphCalc.html And for the equations put 1^x, 2^x, 3^x.

I see, so what about If 0 < b < 1 for the general equation y = b^x, is the graph increasing or decreasing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

decreasing? @I4NI

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, because anything below 1 would cause it to either not increase or decrease or just decrease. 1^x is a straight line and anything below that is decreasing.

thank you!
