What argument for maintaining slavery was most important in the minds of Southerners? Using slaves was a way of life for Southerners, and they were not willing to change that lifestyle. Plantations depended on slave labor, and owners felt the plantations would fail without it. Southerners knew if slaves weren't counted in their population, the North would gain control of Congress. Without slaves, plantation owners would be forced to work their own fields, and they were not skilled in that area.
i would take out the 3rd one because the plantations were the most important to the southerners
i would probably do the second one because the last one wouldnt be it because most of them were still skilled with the skill But it might be the first one too idk you will have to choice between the first or second they both seem imortant
it would be the third answer the main reason they want to keep the slaves is that they would have to start paying people to work their fields and with the slaves they only had to pay for the slaves them selves and if they had to pay the slaves then that cut in to the slave owners profits
