Solve the triangle using either the Law of Sines or the Law of Cosines. Round your answer to the nearest tenth. A = 23°, B = 55°, b = 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Looks like a good candidate for Law of Sines.

k..

..?

A good way to know is to draw the triangle. If you have two sides and the angle between them, then L.O.C. is the best start, if you see a side opposite an angle, then start with L.O.S.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also, whenever you have two angles given, you can immediately find the third angle using interior angle theorem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@coolaidd Can you find law of Sin and write here for me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure how to do that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(length of side a / sin of A) + (length of side b / sin of B)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also note, your triangle is going to add up to 180 degrees. So you already know the angle of C by taking 180 - A - B. Then you have three angles and the length of 1 side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@coolaidd I ask you to write down just the FORMULA, nothing else!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@coolaidd , if you're having trouble remembering the formula, you can find it on this cheat sheet here: http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/pdf/Trig_Cheat_Sheet.pdf

23/9?

@coolaidd You win, I give up !!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Step one: draw and label the triangle. Step two: find the third angle. Step three: write down the law of cosines and law of sines formulas. Step four: use the law of sines formula first by filling in your given information. Let me know what you get after that, and we'll go from there.
