OpenStudy (laddiusmaximus):

find dy/dx by implicit differentiation x^4(x+y)=y^2(3x-y)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you want to avoid product rule, you can simplify by multiplying through on both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well.. you'll still need product rule, but it might be easier to deal with. After simplifying, you can bring everything to one side to have the equation set =0.

OpenStudy (laddiusmaximus):

crap i was distributing across. i forgot about product rule

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you simplify, you'll get \(\large x^5+x^4y-3y^2x+y^3=0\), which is pretty easy to deal with.
