A. Translate each of the following into algebraic expressions: (1 point each) x plus y squared ~ x + y^2 8 times a number, x, decreased by y ~ 8x - y the sum of x and y, squared ~ (x + y)^2 3 times the difference of x and y ~ 3(x - y) 6 less than x cubed ~ x^4 - 6 B. Translate the following phrases into algebraic expressions. Explain, in complete sentences, the difference between the two. (3 points) twice the sum of x and y ~ 2(x + y) the sum of twice x and y ~ C. Create your own example of a mathematical phrase you might hear in the real world and provide the translation for it. Be

You've got them all right,

I need help with part B and C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

part B twice the sum you got that right, the sum of twice x and y...for that you double the integers you have so double x and double y then add it together, 2x+2y then just describe what you see from 2(x+y) and 2x+2y

For C just think of a regular situation like a postman delivering mail or something you normally see in any math question. Then make it into an algebraic equation

Can you give me an example for part C?
