j^2-2j+1=36 What does j equal? I'm not just looking for answers, but how to solve the problem. Thanks

OpenStudy (phi):

this is a quadratic. you solve by first subtracting 36 from both sides j^2 - 2j -35=0 if you can factor it, you can find the solution. or use the "quadratic formula" (search for it)
