Why the speed of sound is less in VULCANISED RUBBER...?
since It is solid with a lots of hole so their is a lot of pressure so only a little amount of sound can pass through it therefore it's speed is less in VULCANISED RUBBER. Not sure about this. u can conform about this :)
@mayankdevnani :)

i don't agree with you @jiteshmeghwal9 sorry!!
well i was also nt agree with me i m also nt sure @mayankdevnani :)
oh!!!!!
refraction of sound
how?
@ganeshie8 sir plz help :)
@mukushla plz help :)

@Kryten plz help :)
@.Sam. plz help :)
Vulcanised rubber is extremely compressible (very low bulk modulus) and so, regardless of its low average density, sound travels very slowly.
and there is also other thing. namely vulcanized rubber is called vulcanized cause chains are interlinked with some kind of compound that can react with certain parts of rubber (functional groups or double bonds) and it is called vulcanized cause most often sulfur is used for that interlinking and sulfur was first discovered next to and in vulcanos or in areas with vulcanic activity, but let me get back to the question you asked, namely by interlinking chains there are areas which are "void" so often there are other aditives added so that void is filled and permitivity increases (permitivity = resistance of passtrough) where in car and other tires soot is added cause soot is also UV absorber and it is cheap, so again i went off track, to continue, as sound enters rubber it brakes of at those interfaces weather they are soot or empty space between interlinks between chains it depends... and also the "emptier" the filler is, more dampening of sound occurs ( nanotubes are put as filler in rubber for linings in trains so they wouldn't make so much noise etc.)
i do agree with nitz because of it absorbs most of the vibration of the sound wave so it travels slower in it. . .
thnx,....to all of u
