3x+2y= 12 solve for y?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Isolate y. What do you have to do first?

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

2y=-3x+12 y=-3/2+6

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

can you add me as your fan?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I have to subtract 3x from the right side of the equation right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@HELP!!!! I wish Hersher could of done it, instead of it being done for him/her.

Sorry, I just signed up for this site 5 minutes ago

Yes @Hesher

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one second

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so after I move 3x (which is now -3x) to the side of the equation with 12 on it, do I divide by 3x on that side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*Do I divide -3x and 12 by 3?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No.

OpenStudy (help!!!!):

so first you isolate the y to one side of the equation. But for this problem you would move the x variable to the right side to make the equation easier.
