8.07] Jose factored 27x2 + 48y2 using the following steps. 27x2 + 48y2 = 3(9x2 + 16y2) = 3(3x + 4y)(3x − 4y) Determine whether Jose factored this binomial correctly. If not, use complete sentences to explain what he did wrong and how he could check his factors for accuracy in the future. Please tell me what he did wrong and also tell me how the correct way to solve this problem is?

he factored it wrong lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL, that much I got!!! ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he did it wrong after he reduced it from 27 to 9 and 48 to 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OMG< thx so much, you r a lifesaver!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it isn't factorable past that point lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL, thx. That's it right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well yeah because its a sum of squares not a difference of squares...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you cant factor past the answer unless it were a difffernece of squares, for example 9x^2-16y^2=(3x + 4y)(3x − 4y)
