Radical activity, converting T?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So in my class, we had to do an experiment with string lengths and such. We tied a pendulum onto the string, and timed the amount of time it took to complete one full swing. We had to do that with 5 different sized strings. I did that, but then I got to this part of the assignment: In the following equation, "T = 2 pi square root of l over 32", l stands for the length of the string in feet. Convert your 5 string lengths into feet by dividing by 12 (12 inches = 1 foot). Then, substitute each of these values into the given equation and solve for T (time for one period). Use 3.14 for π. Record these new measurements in the chart below. I have no idea how to solve this? Could you please explain it? If it helps, these are the measurements that I have now. String Length(in inches) One Period(Seconds) 1) 54___________________2.0 2) 46___________________1.7 3) 38___________________1.5 4) 31___________________1.1 5) 24___________________0.8

Taking the first one, To convert 54 inches to feet = 54/12 = 4.5 feet then it's just a matter of calculating T where (for this one) T = 2 x 3.14 x root (4.5 / 32).

What would be the final answer?
