How do you find the roots of 9th degree equations? Ex:f(x) = 4x^5 - 16x^4 + 17x^3 - 19x^2 + 13x - 3 = 0

the degree here is 5

i guess as a start you can try the possible rational zeros and see if one works try 1, -1, 3 and -3 first, although there are other possibilities

Okay thank you that helps a lot

looks like 3 works, also \(\frac{1}{2}\) i would cheat http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=4x%5E5+-+16x%5E4+%2B+17x%5E3+-+19x%5E2+%2B+13x+-+3+%3D+0
